What counts as a dental emergency
Go to an emergency room instead
Swelling that reaches your eye or neck, or that makes breathing or swallowing difficult, belongs in an emergency room rather than a dental chair. Go there first.
What to do before you get here
The first hour matters most
A knocked-out tooth
Pick it up by the crown, never the root. Rinse it gently with water if it is dirty, then put it back in the socket if you can. If not, keep it in milk or in your cheek and get to the office immediately. The first hour matters more than anything else you do.
A broken tooth
Rinse with warm water, hold a cold compress against your cheek to limit swelling, and save any fragments. Avoid chewing on that side.
Severe toothache
Rinse with warm salt water and floss carefully around the tooth in case something is trapped. Over-the-counter pain relief helps. Do not hold aspirin against the gum, which burns the tissue.
A lost crown or filling
Keep the crown if you have it and bring it with you. Temporary dental cement from a pharmacy can protect the tooth for a day or two, but it is a stopgap, not a repair.
How emergency scheduling works
Emergency visits are available by appointment only, so please call before coming in. Depending on availability, we may be able to see you the same day or the next business day.
New patients are welcome for emergency visits during normal business hours. After-hours emergency care is reserved for established patients of the practice.

What happens in the chair
We keep the process simple and focused on getting you comfortable as quickly as possible.
Step 01
Tell us what hurts. We start by listening to your symptoms, when they began, and what makes them better or worse.
Step 02
We examine the problem area. Your dentist checks the tooth, gums, bite, and surrounding area to look for the source of the pain.
Step 03
We take digital images if needed. Digital X-rays or a CBCT scan can help us see infections, fractures, decay, or other problems that are not visible during the exam.
Step 04
We explain what we found. You’ll know what is causing the problem, what treatment we recommend, and what to expect before we move forward.
Step 05
Treatment may begin the same day. Depending on the diagnosis and availability, we may be able to provide a filling, root canal, extraction, temporary crown, or other urgent care during your visit.
Step 06
You leave with a clear next step. If additional treatment is needed, we’ll explain the plan so you know exactly what comes next.
Nervous about treatment?
Nitrous oxide, oral sedation, and IV sedation are available. If dental anxiety has kept you away, let us know when you call so we can help you feel more comfortable.

Often, yes. Same-day appointments are offered when the schedule allows, and calling first thing in the morning gives you the best chance.

Sometimes, if you act within about an hour. Keep the tooth moist in milk or back in its socket and get to the office right away.
Go to an emergency room for swelling that affects your eye, neck, breathing, or swallowing, for a suspected jaw fracture, or for uncontrolled bleeding. Hospitals can manage infection and pain but generally cannot fix the tooth.
The limited exam and imaging are quoted before treatment begins, and any recommended treatment is quoted separately so you can decide with the numbers in front of you.
