Using X-Ray Technology to Deliver Superior Dental Care for Patients in Columbia, SC

In the field of dentistry, using cutting-edge technology can make all the difference in providing the right treatment for each patient. A commonly used type of technology that we’re proud to use here at Brickyard Dental Group is X-rays, which are a vital part of both preventive and diagnostic care. Our dental office in Columbia, South Carolina, is equipped with X-ray technology, allowing our team of highly experienced doctors and dental experts to deliver the personalized treatment that our patients deserve.

X-Ray Options To Suit Every Patient

At Brickyard Dental Group, we know that every individual may have different needs and concerns when it comes to their dental health. That’s why we offer multiple types of X-rays at our office. These include:

Panorex

A panorex is an X-ray that provides a complete view of the upper and lower jaws, teeth, roots, temporomandibular joints (TMJs), and maxillary sinuses. Without these critical pieces of information, we can sometimes miss pathologic lesions like tumors or cysts, extra teeth, and many other conditions that need treatment in a timely fashion.

Cone Beam CT Scanner

A cone beam CT scanner is an advanced technology that allows us to use X-rays to make 3D images. This is very important when evaluating patients for wisdom teeth surgery, implants, and root canals. Our cone beam CT scanner uses 10 times less radiation than a traditional CT scan and provides a wealth of important information.

Digital X-Rays

Here at Brickyard Dental Group, we use digital X-rays for all of our intraoral radiographs. Instead of developing X-ray film in a dark room, the X-rays are sent directly to a computer and can be viewed on screen, stored, or printed out. This technique uses less radiation than the typical X-ray, and there is no wait time for the X-rays to develop — the images are available on-screen only seconds after being taken. The image taken can be enhanced and enlarged many times its actual size on the computer screen, making it much easier for your dentist to show you where and what the problem is.

If necessary, images can be electronically sent to another dentist or team for a second opinion on a dental problem, to determine if a specialist is needed, or to a new dentist when you move.
